Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it also created a nightmare for a Florida kitten, who got its head wedged in a steel pipe it was investigating.
The trapped kitten was discovered Tuesday in Fort Walton Beach, after which where rescuers from the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society were called in to free the feline from the metal encasement, police say. However, they were unable to get the tiny animal's head out of the pipe, according to a statement. "When all our options seemed to be exhausted, we decided to call in reinforcements," the statement reads. "Our friends at the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department were there to help immediately. With a group effort, we were able to get this sweet baby out and safe."
Rescuers celebrated the rescue of the kitten, which is now available for adoption at the Welfare Society's shelter, by giving it a new name: "Pipe Cleaner."
