Columbus' Shadowbox Live's Inspirational Show "The Dream"

OK... When's the last time you took in some extremely inspiring live, local entertainment?

Shadowbox Live has a show running NOW through May 20th titled, "The Dream" and I keep hearing incredible things about this production...

So... I reached out to Stacie Boord, Executive Director of Shadowbox Live, to get some background on the show....   Now I can't wait to go!

Our quick four minute discussion below...!

ShadowBox Live - The Dream

Stacie explained that idea for "The Dream" was birthed when a group of Shadowbox creatives were discussing the state of the world today, and what they might do that could possibly make an impact.

Stacie described the show, "It's a beautiful celebration of the unsung heroes of the civil rights movement. It's really powerful, it's energizing, it's inspiring, it has amazing music, and information about the heroes that really were just normal people that had the courage to stand up and fight for what they believed in, and we are all still reaping the benefits of their work today."

Stacie added, "If you have the courage to try, you really can change the world."

Perfectly put.

I asked Stacie about some of the inspirational leaders featured in their production.  She explained, "The whole show is kind of threaded together via Martin Luther King's iconic, 'I Have a Dream' speech."

The show also refers to Gloria Steinem and many others including Dolores Clara Fernández Huerta, Shirley Chisholm, and Randy Wicker.  These individuals impacted a number of areas including Pride, economic injustice, women's rights, and a number of other significant cultural issues.

The Shadowbox website description, "Shadowbox Live® celebrates the struggles and the victories of the modern Civil Rights Era with its newest original meta-media production: The Dream. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech, The Dream is an anthology of stories, dance, and music that illuminates one of the most turbulent and uplifting times in American history."

Additionally, "The Dream" ties in nicely with Columbus' 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance, a yearlong celebration currently being recognized by approximately 25 of Columbus' cultural arts organizations including The Columbus Museum of Art.  A number of shows and events are happening around Columbus all year in recognition of African-American art and literature.

"The dream" at Shadowbox Live opened February 8th (opening night review HERE!).

That's all for now friends!  Again, the "The Dream" is already running at Shadowbox and I'm looking forward to experiencing it very soon. I will share more with you later!

Very Best Always,

Chris
