Princess Eugenie's Wedding Dress Showed Off Scar From Major Surgery

Princess Eugenie is now a married woman! Prince Harry and Prince William's cousin wed Jack Brooksbank in a gorgeous Peter Pilotto gown at Windsor Castle. While Eugenie's gown was covered in exquisite detail - that pattern! the neckline! - there was one thing that really caught royal watchers' eyes: a large scar going from Eugenie's neck all the way down her spine. The scar is easily visible due to the low-cut back of Eugenie's gown, which was specifically designed to showcase the Princess's scar.

You can see the scar in the photo of Eugenie and Jack at the altar in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle below:

Here's a closer look at the scar:

Rebecca English, royal correspondent for the Daily Mail, shared on Twitter that "the princess had surgery for [scoliosis] when she was 12 and underwent an eight-hour operation to correct it."

Princess Eugenie has been very vocal about her struggle with scoliosis as a child, even revealing a few days before her wedding that she wanted her dress to show off her scar. "I had an operation when I was 12 on my back, and you'll see on Friday, but it's a lovely way to honor the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this," she told ITV's This Morning. "I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that."

Princess Eugenie's decision to show off her scar is so inspiring. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
