New information surrounding Anne Burrell's death has come to light as officials continue to investigate the sudden death of Food Network star.
According to an internal document obtained by The New York Times, the New York City Police Department is investigating the 55-year-old celebrity chef's unexpected passing as a possible drug overdose. Burrell was found dead at her Brooklyn home on June 17 after officials responded to a 911 suggesting she may have gone into cardiac arrest.
Burrell was reportedly found in the shower "unconscious and unresponsive surrounded by approximately 100 assorted pills," the document states. The medical examiner's office confirmed that an autopsy has been completed, but her cause of death is still pending, per E! News.
Representatives for the Worst Cooks in America host confirmed June 17 that she had passed away and her surviving family — which includes husband Stuart Claxton, stepson Javier and mom Marlene — mourned her "boundless love" in a statement.
"Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered," her family said in a statement. "Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal."
The Food Network also shared a statement honoring one of its longtime stars.
