A plastic surgeon in Ohio has been banned from practicing medicine in the state after livestreaming patients' surgeries on TikTok.

After originally having her license suspended in November 2022, the Ohio Medical Board voted on Wednesday (July 12) to permanently revoke Katharine Grawe's medical license, thereby banning her from practicing medicine in Ohio, per The Associated Press. The move comes after the board decided Grawe harmed and neglected her patients when she livestreamed portions of surgeries, answering viewer questions into the camera while the procedure was still happening.

Questions about Grawe's actions have seemingly been scrutinized for years. According to the AP, the medical board was warned as early as 2018 of concerns about alleged patient privacy and ethics violations.

According to a previous board suspension notice, three past patients were listed as suffering severe complications after being operated on by Grawe, including one unnamed woman who suffered loss of brain function and severe damage to her abdomen as well as bacterial infections after her intestine was discovered to be perforated a week after her surgery. That surgery was one that Grawe partially filmed during a livestream.

Grawe was known as Dr. Roxy in both her plastic surgery practice Roxy Plastic Surgery and to her followers on TikTok, though her account on the social media platform is now private.
